In today&#8217;s world, the view that all species can be effectively conserved with minimal management simply by creating large areas of protected habitat is unrealistic. There is an increasing need for active management and long-term human intervention, guided by strategic plans that are tailored to the conservation needs of species.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><br \/>\n\n<style type=\"text\/css\" data-created_by=\"avia_inline_auto\" id=\"style-css-av-mayax7hk-8427915f1c72c491cc9e90fdac19301c\">\n#top .hr.hr-invisible.av-mayax7hk-8427915f1c72c491cc9e90fdac19301c{\nheight:50px;\n}\n<\/style>\n<div  class='hr av-mayax7hk-8427915f1c72c491cc9e90fdac19301c hr-invisible  avia-builder-el-5  el_after_av_textblock  el_before_av_textblock '><span class='hr-inner '><span class=\"hr-inner-style\"><\/span><\/span><\/div><br \/>\n<section  class='av_textblock_section av-let7aazu-a4570c8a6688bfb4ba18fd21c6560bc6 '   itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/CreativeWork\" ><div class='avia_textblock'  itemprop=\"text\" ><h3>The One Plan Approach<\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<\/div><\/section><br \/>\n<section  class='av_textblock_section av-mayavwmq-17b2305d545c285c37d2f85990c1ecb7 '   itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/CreativeWork\" ><div class='avia_textblock'  itemprop=\"text\" ><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cpsg.org\/our-approach\/one-plan-approach-conservation\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One Plan Approach<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to species conservation promotes an integrated strategy for species recovery where a wide range of conservation partners work together to create a comprehensive conservation plan that includes populations both in the wild (<\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in situ<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) and in human care (<\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ex situ<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">). By involving diverse partners in the planning process, including field biologists, wildlife managers, Indigenous Peoples and local communities, academics, and the zoo, aquarium, and botanic garden community, the One Plan Approach bridges the gap between wild and captive population management and mobilizes the full suite of skills and resources available to help species in trouble.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The One Plan Approach is supported by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cpsg.org\/\">Conservation Planning Specialist Group (CPSG)<\/a>, part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/iucn.org\/\">International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/iucn.org\/our-union\/commissions\/iucn-species-survival-commission-2021-2025\">Species Survival Commission<\/a>. CPSG helps teams develop conservation plans through collaborative, science-driven workshops that have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/abs\/pii\/S0006320721002469\">proven
