Quatre-vingt-dix pour cent de toutes les plantes \u00e0 fleurs \u2014 y compris la plupart des fruits et l\u00e9gumes dans votre r\u00e9frig\u00e9rateur \u2014 ont besoin de ces pollinisateurs pour se reproduire.<\/p>\n<p>Until the causes of these declines can be reversed, conservation breeding and reintroduction is the only way to safeguard at-risk bumble bees. Today, WPC is the only organization in Canada rebuilding wild bee populations through conservation breeding. Thanks to recent breakthroughs, we\u2019ve figured out how to dramatically increase the number of queens we produce. Wilcox.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/p><\/div><div  class='flex_column av-20i7j8q-c0aa047c7956fd79164908e90761580a av_one_full  avia-builder-el-12  el_after_av_one_full  el_before_av_one_full  first flex_column_div  column-top-margin'     ><section  class='av_textblock_section av-m8dhoil6-cb262eb1c026f5ce80bd43a4f3e68b45'   itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock'  itemprop=\"text\" ><p><b>Carpenter Bees vs. Bumble Bees: How to Tell the Difference<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Shiny \u201cButts\u201d: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bumble bees are fuzzy all over, including their abdomens, which are covered in dense, often black or yellow hairs.\u00a0 Carpenter bees, on the other hand, have smooth, shiny, almost metallic-looking abdomens with little to no hair.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Nesting Habits:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Bumble bees live in colonies, usually in small underground nests, while carpenter bees are mostly solitary.\u00a0 Female carpenter bees carve out tunnels in untreated wood to lay their eggs &#8211; not because they eat the wood, but because it makes a safe nursery for their young.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Comportement : <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Carpenter bees are often seen hovering around decks, sheds, or eaves in spring as males patrol for mates.\u00a0 These males are protective of females, their nests, and even nearby flowers &#8211; pay enough attention and you might even see a carpenter bee scare other insects away from flowers, leaving more food for his mate!\u00a0 While they can look intimidating, they are mostly harmless; the males can\u2019t sting at all, and females only do so if directly threatened.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Carpenter bees sometimes get a bad reputation for drilling into porches or fence posts, but their role as important pollinators of wild and cultivated plants far outweighs the nuisance.\u00a0 Like bumble bees, they\u2019re strong enough to perform <\/span><b>buzz pollination<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by holding onto a flower and vibrating their bodies to shake loose pollen that smaller bees can\u2019t access.
