Ici, \u00e0 Conservation de la faune au Canada, nous travaillons \u00e0 pr\u00e9venir la disparition des esp\u00e8ces de bourdons en p\u00e9ril en les surveillant \u00e0 l'\u00e9tat sauvage, en les \u00e9levant pour les rel\u00e2cher dans notre laboratoire de conservation en Ontario, et en \u00e9tudiant leurs excr\u00e9ments pour y trouver des parasites ! Nous organisons m\u00eame des \u00e9v\u00e9nements sp\u00e9ciaux de science citoyenne \u00e0 travers la province pour suivre la taille des populations, localiser les populations en d\u00e9clin et offrir des programmes de formation pratiques dans le but d'\u00e9largir nos efforts \u00e0 travers le Canada. Parmi les insectes qui imitent le plus souvent les abeilles, on trouve les syrphes (famille des Syrphidae), \u00e9galement appel\u00e9s mouches des fleurs. Ils sont abondants au Canada, et de nombreuses esp\u00e8ces peuvent facilement \u00eatre confondues avec des abeilles ou des gu\u00eapes si on ne sait pas quoi chercher pour les distinguer. Il existe quelques caract\u00e9ristiques r\u00e9v\u00e9latrices qui vous aideront \u00e0 savoir avec plus de certitude ce que vous observez lorsque vous voyez un insecte qui ressemble \u00e0 une abeille ou \u00e0 une gu\u00eape.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Premi\u00e8rement, que sont les mouches des fleurs ? Les mouches des fleurs, comme leur nom l'indique, sont un type de mouche (ordre des Dipt\u00e8res). Il existe plus de 500 esp\u00e8ces de mouches des fleurs au Canada, pr\u00e9sentes dans toutes les provinces et tous les territoires, m\u00eame aussi au nord que l'\u00eele d'Ellesmere. On les trouve le plus souvent pr\u00e8s des plantes \u00e0 fleurs lors des journ\u00e9es chaudes et ensoleill\u00e9es, comme les abeilles. Les mouches des fleurs jouent un r\u00f4le dans la pollinisation de la v\u00e9g\u00e9tation naturelle, des jardins et de diverses cultures. Les mouches des fleurs adultes se nourrissent de nectar, de pollen et de miellat. En tant que larves, de nombreuses esp\u00e8ces sont des pr\u00e9dateurs voraces de pucerons, une nuisance courante. Par exemple, de nombreuses mouches des fleurs ont une coloration noire, jaune et blanche ressemblant \u00e0 celle des abeilles et des gu\u00eapes, ce qui les rend faciles \u00e0 confondre. Les mouches des fleurs n'ont pas de dards comme les abeilles et les gu\u00eapes femelles, elles utilisent donc le mim\u00e9tisme comme m\u00e9canisme de d\u00e9fense pour \u00e9viter la pr\u00e9dation. La fa\u00e7on la plus s\u00fbre de distinguer les mouches des abeilles est de regarder le nombre d'ailes. Les mouches auront toujours une paire d'ailes, tandis que les abeilles et les gu\u00eapes en ont deux paires. Les mouches ont \u00e9galement des yeux plus gros et plus ronds, ainsi que des antennes plus courtes par rapport aux abeilles.
