Depuis, la taille de la population sauvage a fluctu\u00e9. Des \u00e9tudes ont montr\u00e9 que bien que l'effort de r\u00e9tablissement ait emp\u00each\u00e9 l'esp\u00e8ce de dispara\u00eetre du Canada, plus de travail est n\u00e9cessaire pour identifier et aborder les causes du d\u00e9clin de l'esp\u00e8ce. CFC travaille pour emp\u00eacher la pie-gri\u00e8che migratrice de l'Est de dispara\u00eetre en renfor\u00e7ant la population sauvage en Ontario, et en \u00e9tudiant l'esp\u00e8ce pour en apprendre davantage sur les menaces qu'elle fait face.<\/p>\n<p><b>L'\u00e9tudiant \u00e0 la ma\u00eetrise en biologie de la faune de l'Universit\u00e9 de Guelph, Chris Barkwell, a pass\u00e9 l'\u00e9t\u00e9 avec l'\u00e9quipe de r\u00e9tablissement de la pie-gri\u00e8che migratrice de l'Est de Conservation de la faune au Canada, dans le cadre de la formation pratique et du d\u00e9veloppement des comp\u00e9tences du programme. Voici \u00e0 quoi ressemble une journ\u00e9e typique et pourquoi c'est important !<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Conseils de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 sur le terrain<\/span><br \/>\n<\/strong>Avant de commencer tout relev\u00e9 de pie-gri\u00e8ches, rester en s\u00e9curit\u00e9 sur le terrain est primordial. Faire un \u00ab relev\u00e9 \u00bb, c'est essentiellement se rendre dans l'habitat des pie-gri\u00e8ches et chercher ces oiseaux. CFC effectue des relev\u00e9s dans deux zones principales : <\/span><b>Carden Alvar<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> et <\/span><b>Napanee<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, les deux derniers endroits au Canada o\u00f9 les pie-gri\u00e8ches migratrices de l'Est reviennent r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement pour se reproduire. CFC a cartographi\u00e9 des parcelles d'habitat appropri\u00e9 dans les deux r\u00e9gions, principalement des terres de conservation et des p\u00e2turages \u00e0 b\u00e9tail.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Les pie-gri\u00e8ches sont difficiles quant \u00e0 l'endroit o\u00f9 elles vivent. Elles ont besoin de :<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Prairies ouvertes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> pour chasser (elles rep\u00e8rent leurs proies d'en haut et plongent pour les attraper).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Buissons et arbres dispers\u00e9s<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> pour nicher et se percher pendant qu'elles scrutent la zone \u00e0 la recherche de proies.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">D'autres caract\u00e9ristiques utiles incluent <\/span><b>une herbe courte<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (pour que les proies ne puissent pas se cacher facilement) et <\/span><b>l'\u00e9loignement des perturbations humaines<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> comme les routes passantes, car les pie-gri\u00e8ches peuvent \u00eatre craintives face \u00e0 la pr\u00e9sence humaine.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">De plus, lors des relev\u00e9s, l'habitat est \u00e9valu\u00e9 pour d\u00e9terminer s'il est toujours appropri\u00e9, car l'habitat change avec le temps. Si vous voyez un oiseau plonger vers le sol puis remonter sur un perchoir, c'est le comportement de chasse classique de la pie-gri\u00e8che.<\/li>\n<li><b>\u00c9coutez attentivement.<br \/>\n<\/b>Les pie-gri\u00e8ches ne chantent pas souvent, mais vous pourriez entendre un cri d'alarme si vous vous approchez trop, ou les cris de mendicit\u00e9 des oisillons qui attendent leur nourriture. Ces sons peuvent nous aider \u00e0 localiser les pie-gri\u00e8ches.<\/li>\n<li><b>Utilisez des enregistrements d'appels (seulement si vous \u00eates form\u00e9)<br \/>\n<\/b>Les enregistrements d'appels sont des enregistrements de cris de pie-gri\u00e8ches utilis\u00e9s par le personnel de conservation form\u00e9 pour attirer les pie-gri\u00e8ches vers une zone. Ils sont utiles, mais doivent \u00eatre utilis\u00e9s de mani\u00e8re responsable \u2014 jamais par des observateurs d'oiseaux occasionnels.
