Matson Conservation Area – Habitat Restoration Project

Location: Victoria, British Columbia

Landowner: Habitat Acquisition Trust

Seed Provider: Saanich Native Plants

About the site:

The Matson Conservation Area in Esquimalt contains Victoria harbour’s last patch of rare and endangered Garry oak ecosystems. The property has more than a hundred oaks! The project here involves invasive species control, native plantings, and community education. With the seed grant, HAT will be able to plant 0.15 ha of wildflowers to enhance habitat for native pollinators.
