Wildlife Preservation Canada presents a screening of Winged Migration, part of The Animal Kingdom series at the Hot Docs cinema. This Oscar nominated film allows the viewer to soar along with migratory birds through an assortment of beautiful countries and locales over various seasons and climates. Using a state of the art aerial camera, the filmmakers offer a stunning view as a variety of birds make their journey from one hemisphere to another.
Wildlife Preservation is working to save the eastern loggerhead shrike, one of the rarest birds in Canada. Arrive early to meet Sparky, a real live ambassador shrike, and our Lead Biologist Hazel Wheeler. Following the movie, stay for a pop quiz (prizes to be won!) and a Q & A with Dr. Bridget Stutchbury, Canada Research Chair in Ecology and Conservation Biology at York University and Vice President of Wildlife Preservation Canada, to learn how you can help migratory birds like Sparky in an era where birds are rapidly disappearing from the planet.
