Adopt-a-Species Program
Show your love for wildlife by symbolically adopting an at-risk species!
When you symbolically adopt an at-risk species, you are providing direct support for an animal in one of our species recovery programs, helping to cover care-related costs for monitoring supplies, food, enrichment, and regular health check-ups.
Every symbolic adoption comes complete with a digital adoption kit and personalized certificate, making this the perfect way to celebrate your or a loved one’s favourite species.

What is a symbolic adoption?
A symbolic species adoption is a charitable donation that sends care directly to an animal in one of WPC’s species recovery programs. In exchange for your kind gift, you will receive a digital adoption kit so you can show your love and support for the species you chose!
When will I receive my digital adoption kit?
You will receive your digital adoption kit within 7 days of WPC receiving your donation. If you have not received your adoption kit, please check your spam and junk mail boxes, or reach out to us at kelly.schaus@wildlifepreservation.ca.
Can I purchase an adoption kit as a gift?
A symbolic adoption makes an amazing, heartfelt gift! The digital adoption certificate can be personalized with the name of your choice. Digital adoption certificates are emailed with a ready to print design if you wish to present your gift physically, or delivery to an alternate email address can be arranged.
How long do digital and physical plaques remain in place?
Select digital adoption kit packages include a digital and/or physical plaque.
Digital plaques placed on our online recognition wall will remain in place for one year from date of adoption.
Physical plaques placed at WPC facilities and/or recovery sites will remain in place for two years from date of adoption.
What are the benefits of a digital adoption kit?
A digital adoption kit gives you all the exciting benefits of symbolically adopting a species, without the worry of creating waste!
Is a physical version of the adoption kit available?
Currently, we only offer digital adoption kits. However, everything that comes with the kit is in a ready to print format, which means you are welcome to print them out for personal use at your local print shop, library, or using your home printer!
*Note: If you select the Ultimate Package, a physical plaque is installed at WPC’s conservation facilities and/or recovery sites for the species you have chosen.
