FAQ
Find the answers to some of our most common questions below. If you still have questions, feel free to reach out to us via email at admin@wildlifepreservation.ca. We’d be happy to help.
Who is WPC?
WPC is Canada’s last defence for endangered species. We are on a mission to save animal species at risk from extinction in Canada by providing direct, hands-on care.
We are the only organization in Canada to provide this critical need for multiple species in multiple recovery efforts across the country. We specialize in science-based techniques such as conservation breeding and release, reintroduction and translocation.
Where does WPC operate?
Currently, we have programs throughout British Columbia and Ontario. But this doesn’t mean we are limited to two provinces! Through our Canadian Species Initiative, our staff provides insight and guidance on conservation recovery programs, and our bee program has connections all over the country.
How can I stay up to date on WPC’s activities and projects?
Stay connected by subscribing to our newsletter here, follow us on social media and regularly check our website for updates, blogs written by our biologists from the field, and our success stories!
Does WPC work with insects?
Here at WPC, we work with a variety of species, including insects! From reptiles and amphibians, to birds and mammals, we work with endangered species in Canada based on the urgency of the need.
What are the key threats to the wildlife species WPC works with?
A lot of the species we work with here in WPC are threatened by habitat loss, fragmentation and invasive species, though it differs from species to species. To learn more about the threats each specific species faces, visit our species in need descriptions, categorized by birds, mammals, insects, and reptiles & amphibians.
